OVER 100 youth groups, including Millennials PH, Liberal Youth, and those from the Kapit-Mindanao network, got together and have raised P735,000 in cash and kind for areas devastated by Typhoons Quinta and Rolly.

David Santos, Liberal Youth secretary general, urged the public to participate in the month-long donation drive dubbed Kapit-Pinas which he and fellow youth leaders started November 1.

Kapit-Pinas calls on everyone to donate through this link tinyurl.com/KapitDonate (https://forms.gle/oKjnp8JnT3WPYh2x6)and also join the call to reach more people online through the hashtags #KapitPinas and #SocialMediaBayanihan.

Some of the needs include food items (such as canned goods, instant noodles, water), hygiene and dignity kits, and shelter materials. The first wave of relief distribution will begin on November 7 in Albay.

The campaign will be running from November 1 to 30. It aims to donate to residents in 13 badly affected areas: Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, Catanduanes, Marinduque, Quezon, Oriental and Occidental Mindoro, Batangas, Cavite, and Laguna.

The fund and relief packs obtained through Kapit-Pinas will be distributed through community-based groups located in the abovementioned areas that have their own disaster response initiatives in line with the requirements of their communities.

The P735,000 initial amount raised was made possible in large part through partnerships with Tanging Yaman Foundation and Premium Megastructures Inc. only three days after the November 2 Kapit-Pinas launch.
