It was today in 2003 that the World Health Organization has declared that the pandemic caused by the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) has been contained. SARS was considered to be the first pandemic in the 21st Century and is caused by a strain of coronavirus known as SARS-CoV-1 which is similar to SARS-CoV-2 that causes the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) we know today. The last recorded case of SARS was in 2004.

Containing the COVID-19 pandemic is also achievable. Let us continue on following the health protocols and having ourselves vaccinated against the virus.
