TODAY IN HISTORY: CANADA DAY
This day in 1867, Canada becomes an independent self-governing dominion of the British Empire with the passage of the British North America Act. This is then celebrated annually as Canada Day.

This year, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau calls on Canadians to reflect on Canada Day in honor of the indigenous peoples in Canada. “The flag on the Peace Tower will also remain at half-mast for Canada day”, says PM Trudeau in a tweet.
