[UPDATED] MANILA- Benigno Simeon C. Aquino III, the 15th President of the Philippines and son of late Senator Ninoy Aquino and President Cory Aquino, passed away at 6:30 a.m. on June 24, 2021 (Thursday), according to the reports of several people who are close to the Aquino family.

Earlier, ABS-CBN News reported that the former president was hospitalized in Capitol Medical Center where he ultimately died.

Numerous people like Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, Foreign Secretary Teodoro Locsin, Jr. Senate President Tito Sotto, and many others, mourned the death of President Aquino.

It was reported that P-Noy was undergoing dialysis three times (3x) a week due to a kidney disease and was preparing for a kidney transplant.

In a press conference, the former president’s family confirmed that P-Noy died in his sleep due to renal disease secondary to diabetes.

Singer-songwriter Jim Paredes said in a Twitter post at 4:43 p.m. that the president is set to be cremated and his ashes will be brought to Ateneo for religious services on June 25.
