On July 07, 2015, the Philippine Delegation to the arbitral tribunal at the Permanent Court of Arbitration has started to argue its case versus the People’s Republic of China’s claim on the disputed islands in the West Philippine Sea countering on China’s nine-dash-line claim over the region. A powerhouse team led by then-Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert Del Rosario was joined by then-Solicitor General Florin Hilbay and the Philippines’ lead counsel “giant slayer” Paul Reicher – an American lawyer who represented Nicaragua and defeated the United States before the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
